The highlight of shooting this film was meeting young Ryan Foxxx!!

Many of you have been asking me through myspace, gaywatch, bareback.com, ...etc. what I think about Chi Chi La Rue's new PSA....
I love it. It needs to be said. There's always going to be a need for people to be reminded to be careful. Chi Chi is adamant about what she believes in and is putting it out there. Apparently other studios are now trying to 'ride the wave' of publicity brought about by the resurfacing of this issue. They will NOT make bareback porn...(but they'll sure sell it!)...That's a whole issue I don't even want to get into here. I've blogged about it before.

1. You're negative and know beyond a shadow of a doubt your partner is negative and you're both in a monogamous relationship....I mean, using a condom in that circumstance is sort of like using an umbrella on a clear day ;-)

2. You & your partner are positive and are in a monogaous relationship and aren't worried about the whole 'cross-contamination' theory of HIV.

4. You are positive and don't really care about getting 'cross-contaminated' or worried about contracting other STD's.

5. You are negative and not worried about contracting ANY STD...(which is not very bright unless you know all the people you're sleeping with are disease free.)

In any case, to make the blanketed statement - "EVERYONE needs to wrap-it-up ALL of the time" is really myopic. Many people do not need / want to wear condoms. Many people will only have sex with condoms. Many people will only have sex without condoms. EVERYONE does, however, need to be SMART, HONEST, and RESPONSIBLE about their sexual practices and willing to accept the CONSEQUENCES of their actions, whatever they may be. If not, then there's really nothing the porn industry can do to sway decisions one way or the other.

Let's get real. The rise in HIV cases in whatever age group, in whatever demographic, is not directly related to the influence of bareback porn. Take bb porn out of the picture and these rises would be just as prevalent for many many other reasons. (i.e. complacency, understanding and controling the disease, a new generation of men not knowing the 'era of death'...for lack of a better phrase, better meds, increased drug use, alcohol, etc.) These are all reasons young men are putting themselves at risk. I will go so far as to say I'm sure bb porn does not HELP them in their decision to (or not to) use condoms during sexual encounters, however, if they've decided upon barebacking as a way of life...no amount of safe sex porn, PSAs, or scare tactics are going to stop them.

As far as models go, if you are negative, or really truely afraid of catching any STD, you might want to consider other lines of work to pursue. I've read lots of comments left on the safe sex blogs and the consumer is generally NOT that worried about the safety & well-being of the performer. It's up to us to weigh all the options before we stick dicks (sheathed or unsheathed) in ANY orifice.

Let's start taking accountability for our own actions. Have smart sex. Safe sex IS hot. Bareback sex IS hot. There is a market for both. I'm not going to venture to guess WHICH segment of the industry is more popular right now (or always has been), I'm just going to say...do what's best for you. Watch what you want to watch. Practice what you preach. Be smart about it.
